Abstract

420,300. Automatic regulation. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London.-(Assignees of Suits, C. G.; 1740, Union Street, Schenectady, New York, U.S.A.) May 25, 1933, No. 15170. Convention date, May 26, 1932. [Class 38 (iv)] The windings of electroresponsive devices, e.g., relays, are supplied with voltage from a circuit comprising a saturable inductance in parallel with a condenser so that small current variations at a critical current value produce large voltage variations in the circuit to render the relay more sensitive to current variations. A resistance may be connected in series with the saturable inductance. In the form shown in Fig. 1 the circuit comprising a resistance, saturable inductance and condenser 11, 12, 13 is connected in series with the load 14. In a modification the circuit is transformer coupled, the transformer secondary acting as the saturable inductance. In a further modification of this, two circuits are used, their outputs being connected in series opposition through the relay, &c. This arrangement gives a response curve as shown in Fig. 7.
