Abstract

424,252. Automatic reversible motor regulators. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London.-(Assignees of Woodrow, C. A. ; 17, North Ferry Street, Schenectady, New York, U.S.A.) May 16, 1933, No. 14172. Void [Abridged as open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Nov. 18, 1933]. [Class 38 (iv)] In a network having a number of parallel feeders 2, in order that the voltages of the feeders may be maintained equal and constant, each is provided with an automatic voltage control 13, 15 on a tapped transformer 11, responsive to the voltage of the respective feeders, a component in accordance with the wattless feeder current and a further opposing component in accordance with line drop. Systems 5 and 7 have only wattless current compensation provided by injecting into the circuit of the regulator relay 15, a voltage proportional to the feeder current which voltage opposes or is in phase with the feeder voltage according to whether the feeder current leads or lags the feeder voltage. Compensation for line drop may be effected by injecting into the circuit of the regulator relay 15, a voltage proportional to the feeder current which voltage is in phase opposition to the feeder voltage at unity power factor. Current transformers 18 in the feeders are connected to inductance 17 or capacity 19 in the circuit of the respective regulator relays 15 for injecting the wattless current compensation voltage, and resistance 20 may be inserted in the current transformer and relay circuits to effect line drop compensation.
