Abstract
634,379. Transformers. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO:, Ltd., and ANDERSON. J. R. Dec. 2, 1946, No. 35676. Addition to 491,845. [Class 38 (ii)] In induction apparatus as claimed in the parent Specification, in which electrostatic shields are arranged around a winding, one shield 1 being connected to the high voltage terminal and another shield 2 being connected 'to the winding at a point under shield 1, a first electrostatic plate 4 is placed next to the highvoltage end of the winding and connected thereto, and an additional annular plate 7 insulated from and in close capacitative coupling with plate 4 is connected to shield 2. Where the winding is divided into two parallel halves the additional annular plate 7 is placed between a pair of insulated annular plates associated respectively with the two halves of the winding. The annular plates may be replaced by metal wrappings on the end coils as described in the parent Specification.
