Abstract

[Class 38 (ii)] [Also in Group XI] For matching the impedances of the load and tank circuit, in a H.F. induction heating apparatus, a transformer with relatively movable primary and secondary is provided to vary the coupling in the required manner. In the example shown, the secondary is rigidly mounted within the frame 1 and is composed of several turns of metal strip 7 with cooling fluid tubes 11 attached, the primary 5 is movable in and out of the secondary on the bus-bars 14, by which contact is made with the tank circuit by sliding contacts. A hand wheel 20 rotating an insulated threaded rod 6 effects movement of the structure supporting the primary. Alternative primary tappings are provided at 18 and the more suitable tapping may be selected by means of a plug 16.
