[Class 38 (ii)] In order that the effective tapping point on a high-frequency inductance may be accurately adjusted a gap 4 wider than the spacing between turns is introduced at the tapping point and a core 9 of powdered magnetic material or of conducting material, symmetrically placed in the gap, is moved axially so as to change slightly the value of the inductance. The Figure shows an arrangement for balancing a centre tapped inductance. The tapping 10 may be made conductively, as shown, or inductively.
