Abstract
698,458. Inductances. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. April 2, 1952 [April 5, 1951], No. 8388/52. Class 38 (ii). A coil 1, which may be a corrector coil with variable inductance for correcting the non- linearity of the saw-tooth current in the deflection coils of a television receiver, having a ferrite core 3, is mounted in an insulating housing 7 together with a permanent magnet 13 which premagnetizes the core 3. This magnet 13 is mounted in a non-magnetic cylinder 11 which is rotatable so that while the magnet 13 and core 3 remain parallel and opposite, their distance apart and consequently the degree of saturation of core 3 is variable. It is shown that as the magnet 13 is moved from the position nearest the coil the intensity of premagnetization varies approximately directly with the angle of rotation of cylinder 11. The magnet 11 should be at least as long as the coil 1.
