Abstract

1,066,879. inductances. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. Aug. 6, 1965 [Aug. 11, 1964], No. 33758/65. Heading H1T. A coil system, e.g. a linearity corrector for T.V., comprises a coil 1 with a saturable ferrite core 3, a first cylindrical permanent magnet 5 having N and S poles as shown in Fig. 1 and rotatable about its axis, and a second permanent U-shaped magnet 7 having one pole around the inside of the U and the other pole around the outside of the U, the arrangement being such that the saturation of the part of the core 3 inside the coil, and hence the inductance of the coil, is varied continuously on rotation of the magnet 5. Similar magnets may also surround the other projecting end of the core 3, their polarities being reversed so they assist the 1st pair, and the two magnets 5 being rotatable simultaneously.
