835,173. Permanent magnets. COMPAGNIE GENERALE DE TELEGRAPHIE SANS FIL Feb. 13, 1958 [Feb. 26, 1957], No. 4722/58. Drawings to Specification. Class 35. A permanent magnet comprises several portions of materials of differing coercivities arranged so that high coercivity materials are in zones where the demagnetizing force is greatest and vice versa, the lengths of the different portions being so chosen that, at the contact planes of adjacent portions, the values of magnetic induction B and demagnetizing force H for one of the materials are substantially identical with the respective values for the adjacent material. Arrangements of both bar and U-shaped magnets are described, the latter being either multi-section; multi-layer or both.
