555,732. Inductances. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd. March 2, 1942, No. 2687. Convention date, March 1, 1941. [Class 38 (ii)] A tuning inductance 7 varied by a movable core 10 is provided with magnetic members 31, 32 in the form of rings or cups at one or both ends for extending its range by increasing the maximum inductance without materially altering the minimum inductance. The magnetic members may be adjustable in an axial direction. The core 10 is preferably made of finely divided iron of the type described in the Journal of the A.I.E.E., Vol. 40, July, 1921, while the members 31, 32 may be of the same material or of less expensive iron such as Swedish or sponge iron.
