Abstract

616,932. Inductances. PHILIPS LAMPS, Ltd. Sept. 23, 1946, No. 28438. Convention date, April 16, 1943. [Class 38 (ii)] [Also in Group XL (c)] An inductance by which is varied the natural frequency of an oscillatory circuit, for example in a radio receiver, or for frequency modulation of a carrier wave, has a ferrite core, the permeability of which is varied by magnetizing current in an auxiliary winding. The inductance L, with ferrite core K and auxiliary winding carrying premagnetizing current i, may be connected in parallel with, may constitute, or may be in series with an inductance L which with a condenser C forms the oscillatory circuit as shown in Figs. 1, 3 (not shown) and 5 (not shown) respectively. The first two arrangements have a linear frequency/premagnetization current characteristic. The windings may be in two series connected parts on two separate cores so arranged that the current in one winding is not reflected into the other, Fig. 5 (not shown). The ferrite path may be closed, Fig. 1, or open, Fig. 3 (not shown). Specification 626,946 is referred to.
