Abstract
571,005. Inductances. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. (General Electric Co.). Oct. 11, 1943, No. 16594. [Class 38 (ii)] A variable inductance comprises two relatively-slidable, series-connected, magneticallyaiding coils 1, 2 and a coil 3 fixedly-spaced from the coil 1 and connected so as to be magneticallyopposed to the coils 1 and 2. Thus, when the coil 2 is moved away from coil 1, the total inductance is further reduced by increased coupling between coils 2 and 3, and the change in inductance is made proportional to displacement of coil 2 over an extended range.
