Abstract
619,439. Tap changing transformers. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Dec. 10, 1946, No. 36460. Convention date, Dec. 12, 1945. [Class 38 (ii)] To reduce the voltage appearing across the arcing duty contactors 9, 10 of an on-load tap changing transformer 4, if either is opened whilst the transformer is shortcircuited, means such as a switch 14, is provided, whereby the impedance, of the tap-interconnecting reactor 11 may be materially reduced prior to the opening of either of the contactors.
