Abstract
601,839. Arc-rupturing in switches. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Oct. 5, 1945, No. 25941. Convention date, Oct. 14, 1944. [Class 38 (v)] To prevent restriking of the arc, the voltagegradient near the contacts is reduced. by the flanges 4, 5 of U-shaped magnetic arc-runners 4a, 5a, extending outside the insulating arcshoot plates 1, 2, so that the voltage-gradient (shown by the lines 13) occurs between the edges 11, 12 of the flanges. One of the U-shaped runners may be omitted in certain cases.
