Abstract
839,083. Vacuum switches. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO. Ltd. Feb. 5, 1958 [March 15, 1957], No. 8637/57. Class 38 (5). In a vacuum switch, the contacting faces 1d, 1e of the switch contacts 1, la are surrounded by spaced inter-mated corrugations 1b, 1c. The peaks of the corrugations overlap one another in the open position (shown) of the contacts as well as in the closed position and confine arc-produced metallic particles to the vicinity of the contacts to reduce the deposition of metal on insulating surfaces near to the contacts.
