Abstract
993,737. Vacuum switches. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. March 4, 1964 [April 23, 1963], No. 15995/63. Heading H2B. A vacuum switch has contacts 8 of high arcing voltage alloy containing titanium formed with regions 11 of a low - arcing voltage metal so that arcing occurs between the regions 11 and the actual contact-making surfaces made of the titanium alloy are substantially free from burning. The low-arcing voltage metal which may be a nickel-tin-copper alloy is contained in shallow depressions in the surface of the contact which is made of molybdenum or steel containing ¢% by weight of titanium.
