[Class 38 (ii)] [Also in Group XL (c)] A high-frequency transformer for coupling a balanced and an unbalanced circuit comprises a wire loop 1, connected, for example, to anodes 2, 3 of two push-pull connected power output tubes, and inductively coupled to a second wire loop 4 which is earthed at one end 13 by connection to an earthed metal plate 5 and is surrounded by two cylindrical shields 6, 7, each connected at one end to plate 5, and connected at points 21, 22 by a variable condenser 20. The positions of points 21, 22 and the valve of the condenser are adjusted to give maximum power output from the transformer. Insulating spacers 8, 11, 15 are respectively provided to separate the ends of screens 6, 7 and to space the conductor 4 from the screens 6, 7 and the plate 5. The output end 16 of conductor 4 may be surrounded by an earthed coaxial screen 17.
