764,050. Transformers. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Jan. 25, 1955 [Jan. 25, 1954], No. 2219/55. Class 38 (2). A five leg magnetic core for a three-phase transformer or the like has the main windings 17, 18, 19 situated on the three inner legs 10, 11, 12, the two side legs 15, 16 being unwound and each having a cross-sectional area which is between one-tenth and less than one-half of that of each of the main legs; preferably it is one-third. Short-circuited flux control windings 20 are situated on the yoke portions to prevent a third harmonic flux from circulating through the yokes and the side legs. The yoke portions joining the side legs to the main part of the core.
