Abstract

225,844. Koch & Sterzel Akt.-Ges. Dec. 4, 1923, [Convention date]. Polyphase transformers.-Relates to a method of reducing no-load losses at light loads on threephase transformers in which the primary windings are changed over from delta connection at full load to star connection at light loads, and consists in arranging the secondary windings so that they may be star connected under both conditions, the same transformation ratio being maintained by dividing each secondary winding into two sections which are connected in parallel and starred at full load as shown in Fig. 1, and double-star connected at light loads as shown in Fig. 3. Switch means for effecting the change-over are illustrated diagrammatically in the drawings accompanying the Specification. The change-over switch may be disposed in the oil-filled casing of the transformer and coupled with a main oil-immersed switch. The change-over may be time controlled or relays may be employed for automatically effecting the change-over according to current variations in either the primary or secondary windings.
