Supplying and controlling consuming devices; systems depending on static transformers.-To improve the power factor of welding plants in which transformers are employed, a condenser is connected across one of the windings of the transformers. Fig. 3 shows the application of the invention to a transformer a in which regulation is effected by varying the air gap by a movable core section e and by a tapped winding, the condenser c being connected in parallel with the load d. The invention may also be applied to autotransformers.
