[Class 38 (ii).] A phase multiplying transformer for supplying, for example, polyphase rectifiers comprises a single winding of coils lap or wave connected to form a closed circuit appropriately tapped for connection to a polyphase supply so as to produce a rotating magnetic flux, the winding being arranged in closed slots in a core providing a complete iron path for the flux. A further series of tappings are provided on the winding for taking off output current of an increased number of phases.
