[Class 38 (ii).] A transformer providing a variable secondary voltage comprises primary and secondary windings P, S on a closed magnetic core A having limb extensions 10 between which a magnetic shunt 2 is mounted in such manner that it may be adjusted by a screw 7 co-operating with springs 4 towards or away from the windings to vary the leakage flux. The casing C is filled to the level 9 with a pasty insulating material.
