Abstract
210,227. Davies, W. Langdon-, and Soames, A. Dec. 1, 1922. Regulating transformers.-An automatic regulating transformer consists of a core A, Fig. 1, provided with a winding 13 and a flux regulator O provided with a winding J the position of the regulator O being controlled by a spring D which tends to retain the member O against an adjustable stop E. The attracted position of the member O is limited by an adjustable stop H and its movement is controlled by a dash-pot G. In a modification a winding is placed in a straight fixed core and a U-shaped core forms the flux regulator. In the mcdificatioia shown in Fig. 3 the flux regulator C<4> moves across the curved poles of the core A<2> and its limit positions are controlled by adjustable stops E<1>, H<2>. The apparatus is designed to give drooping volt-ampere characteristics similar to those of the arrangement described in Specification 204,109, and particularly suitable for arc welding systems.
