181,470. Davies, W. Langdon-, and Soames, A. March 11, 1921. Regulating tranformers.- In an automatic regulator for an alternating-current circuit, of the kind in which two mutually-inductive coils C, D wound on cores A, B are arranged so that, although one coil D and its core B can rotate relatively to the other coil, the reluctance of the magnetic circuit of each coil remains substantially constant, as described in Specification 129,805, a stop O, preferably adjustable, is provided to limit the movement of the movable core and coil, the stop being placed in the position which gives the best inductive effect for normal working. The movable core is mounted on a shaft B' carrying an arm L, which, in the initial position of the regulator, is held against an adjustable stop K by the action of a spring N. The movement to the limiting stop O is retarded by a dash-pot J<1>, which may be provided with a valve J<2> to permit of a free return movement. The coils are shown connected in series to give a choking-effect, but they may form the primary and secondary windings of a transformer. The movable coil may be short-circuited on itself.
