Abstract
454,178. Magnet-coils. LANFRANCONI, F. A., 6, Lancaster Gate Terrace, Hyde Park, London. May 28, 1935, No. 15527. [Class 35] An electromagnetic coil adapted to generate a substantially constant flux despite variations in applied potential comprises turns of wire of low resistance and of relatively high resistance connected in parallel and twisted together, and in series with additional turns of relatively high resistance. As an example, 200 turns of parallel wires of high and low resistance respectively are twisted together and wound on a former, and about 2200 turns of high resistance wire are superposed, wound in the same direction. Copper wire of No. 38 S.W.G. and No. 44 S.W.G. may be used for the low and high resistance turns respectively. The coil may be used for the solenoid in the electric clockwork mechanism described in Specification 440,257, [Group XVIII], or as a choke coil in alternating-current circuits.
