Abstract

550,881. Supply meters. BRITISH INSULATED CABLES, Ltd., and ECKERSLEY, P. Sept. 5, 1941, No. 11376. [Class 37] Light load adjustment in an induction motor meter is provided by a pair of similar coils each fixed on a branch of the magnetic core carry. ing part of the flux of the potential coil the circuit of these coils being closed through ar adjustable impedance. In the construction shown two similar coils 16, 17 are arranged on the branches 14, 15 of the core that connect the potential magnet 2 and the current magnet 7, 8. The circuit of the coils 16, 17 is closed through a non-inductive resistance 18 and a wire or strip 19 mounted on an insulating support which carries a slider 20. With the slider in the central position the circuits of the two coils have equal impedance. Movement of the slider 20 from this position increases the impedance of one coil and decreases that of the other, causing a low load torque on the disc 1 in a direction dependent on the direction of displacement of the slider. The coils 16, 17 may alternatively be placed on the branches 4, 5 of the potential magnet, or the central limb 2 may be split into two or more branches and a low load adjustment coil disposed on one or two of these branches.
