[Class 104 (iii)] An arc - quenching device for use with current collectors comprises one or more magnets 11, 12 located at or near the gap 7 at which the collector 18 leaves a conductor 5, so that the magnetic field between the magnet poles 13, 14 diverts the arc 16 into a box &c. 9 arranged below the gap and made of heatresisting and insulating material 10.
