Abstract

891,001. Electrically released switches. SIEMENS & HALSKE A.G. Dec. 29, 1958 [Jan. 15, 19581, No. 41879/58. Class 38 (5). Magnetic contact-springs in a sealed envelope are held closed by a holding flux which is reduced, to allow the contacts to open, by an increase in the reluctance of the contact-springs due to an increase in the current flowing therein. In Fig. 2 the contact-springs F1, F2 close when a coil A is energized and are held closed by a flux #h produced by coils H, a magnetic return path R being provided for the flux #h which is reduced as the current I in the contacts increases. In Fig. 5 the path R approaches the reeds F1, F2 on each side of the contact points to provide shunt paths for part of the flux from coils H which may be replaced by permanent magnets (Fig. 7, not shown). The contacts may be enclosed in a sealed glass tube.
