Abstract
1396874 Magnetic switches EMI Ltd 19 July 1972 [27 July 1971] 35084/71 Heading H1N An alarm switch for operation on relative movement of two members 1, 4 has a reed contact unit 3 responsive to the magnetic field of two oppositely poled flux sources 5, 6 movable relative to the unit 3 along the line between the poles of the members 1, 4 and a further magnetic member 9 is provided with an aperture allowing flux from the magnets to reach the contact unit. The member 9 may surround the magnets or may be a permanent magnet which biases the contacts of the unit 3. The reeds may be normal or parallel (Fig. 5, not shown) to the path of movement and the contact unit may have a resistor connected between its terminals.
