[Class 104 (iii)] A device for quenching an arc formed when a current collector 27 runs off a conductor 19 on to an insulated guide 22, comprises one or more magnets 29 located at the junction of the conductor and guide. The conductor may have two or more air gaps so arranged that the collector never bridges them all at the same time, whilst one or more magnets are arranged at one or each gap. The magnet may be enclosed in a casing 30.
