Abstract
559,863. Electromagnetic switches. ULTRA ELECTRIC, Ltd., and HASSAN, F. Aug. 4, 1942, ' Nos. 10865 and 14910. [Class 38 (v] An electromagnetic switch with contacts g<SP>1</SP>, g<SP>2</SP> arranged between poles d<SP>1</SP>, d<SP>2</SP> and a rectilinearly moving armature c bridging the poles is adjusted to operate at a desired current value by moving a shunt or other member forming part of the magnetic circuit. In the form shown, the flux between the pole pieces d<SP>1</SP>, d<SP>2</SP> and the armature c is shunted to a variable degree by adjustable polar extensions f. The armature c is supported by strips e, e<SP>1</SP> shaped to provide flexibility. In a modification, the adjustable magnetic member consists of an iron plug which is inserted a varying amount into a hole in the magnetic frame.
