Abstract

602,309. Reciprocating generators. MAG. NAVOX CO. May 25, 1944, No. 10175. Convention date, June 30, 1943. [Class 35] A generator winding surrounds a movable armature carrying one of a pair of contacts and is short-circuited on initial movement of the armature and the short circuit is interrupted when the rate of change of flux reaches a maximum. In the form shown, the armature 48 carrying coil 50 is oscillated so that in its extreme position it bridges poles N and S or N<SP>1</SP> and S' but in intermediate positions when both switches 64, 68 and 66, 70 are open impulses are transmitted to the load 72. By adjustment of screws 71 the switches can be closed to short circuit the coil before the armature meets the magnet pole. In a modification, an armature alternately bridges and moves away from the poles of a simple U-shaped magnet, the load being across contacts on the armature and one pole respectively.
