Abstract

615,118. Induction coils. AKTIEBOLAGET HAKANSSONS INDUSTRIER. July 25, 1946, No. 22188. Convention date, Aug. 1, 1945. [Class 38 (ii)] [Also in Group XXXVII] In a device specially suitable for electric fences and adapted to give periodic electric impulses at greater intervals than the natural period of oscillation of a reed, the reed maintains contacts open (or alternatively closed) while its vibrations die down only allowing them to engage (or open) when it is almost at rest. Fig. 2 shows one form wherein completion of the circuit of a primary coil 8 through contacts 2a, 3a causes the attraction of an armature 11 which, striking a bend 16 in the spring 13, gives an upward impulse to the contact 2a which breaks away from the contact 3a. The armature then returns and meets the spring 12, which has a longer natural period of vibration, preventing it from re-engaging the contact 3a and thereafter the comparatively rapid vibra-. tions of the armature maintain the contacts apart till the armature is nearly at rest when they re-engage and the cycle recommences. Each time a current impulse passes through the primary winding 8, a secondary high voltage impulse is induced in the secondary winding 7 which may be connected to a fence. In a modification, Fig. 4, armatures 11a, 11b on reed 1 and armature 27 on reed 12a are all attracted simultaneously by the magnet, but reed 12a is checked by a stop 26, causing contact separation which is maintained by the vibrations of reed 1 till these die down sufficiently.
