Abstract
622,629. Electromagnetic switches. KEMP, K. W. L. April 2, 1947, No. 8978. [Class 38(v)] In miniature relays wherein the armature operates banks of contacts, the operating coil or coils 2 are located between the limbs of a U-shaped armature 5 pivoted at X at the end of one limb, the other limb of the armature carrying one or more banks of contacts b<SP>1</SP>, b<SP>2</SP>, b<SP>3</SP>. In the form shown, each contact such as b<SP>1</SP> comprises a leafspring split from the free end lengthwise to form two spring limbs which carry contact tips 12 engaging two fixed contacts so as to bridge them. When the magnet 2 is de-energized the armature 5 moves up so that each contact such as b<SP>1</SP> moves out of engagement with its pair of fixed contacts into engagement with a second pair of fixed contacts. The armature 5 is fixed to the yoke 4 by a spring blade 6 a protruding tongue 6a of which serves to bias the armature to its upper position.
