Drawings to Specification. [Class 38 (v).] In order to adapt the operating winding of a contactor or circuit-breaker to use on D.C. or A.C. supply, a resistance normally shortcircuited by a switch is connected in series with the winding for A.C. supply and when the coil is connected over to D.C. supply the switch is opened so that the resistance is introduced in circuit. Alternatively the winding is in two parts so that the whole of it may be used for the A.C. supply and a part only for the D.C. supply.
