Abstract
438,791. Transformers. FERRANTI, Ltd., and NORRIS, E. D. T., Hollinwood, Lancashire. April 24, 1934, No. 12374. [Class 38 (ii)] Relates to a voltage regulator comprising two fixed coaxial windings 2, 3, connected in series opposition and displaced axially and a movable short-circuited winding 4 associated therewith and consists in disposing the windings such that when the short-circuited winding is in the centre position the sum of the leakage impedances between the fixed and shortcircuited windings is less than the leakage impedance between the fixed windings, so as to reduce the mid-position load impedance of the regulator. This is effected by making the axial distance between the two fixed windings less than the axial length of the shortcircuited winding. The invention may be applied to the form of voltage regulators described in Specifications 340,538, 341,903, 368,142, 368,592, 372,493, 394,063, 396,408, and 406,830.
