714,113. Transformers. ASKANIAWERKE AKT.-GES. May 30, 1952 [June 20, 1951; April 26, 1952], No. 13831/52. Class 38(2) A variable output transformer of the type having two primary windings P<SP>1</SP>, P<SP>2</SP>, connected in opposite sense and arranged on the centre limb of a magnetic core and having a secondary winding S arranged around the centre limb also and movable therealong so that it is influenced by either one or the other of the two primary windings so that the voltage output of the secondary winding is variable from a maximum value in one sense through zero to a maximum in the opposite sense, is characterized in that the core of the transformer is formed of two symmetrically arranged E-shaped parts each having three integral legs which abut along a line A-A, the secondary winding S in the zero position being symmetrically disposed about this line of abutment. The primary windings may be oppositely connected in series or parallel; in the latter case a variable resistor R is provided to compensate for unbalance between the two windings.
