Abstract
862,267. Transformers. PARSONS & CO. Ltd., C. A. July 9, 1958 [July 22, 1957], No. 23158/57. Class 38 (2). The turns of the disc coils of a transformer or like winding are connected in series in the order shown by the numbers in Figs. 2, 3 and 4. The peripheral turns are connected together where necessary and the others are so connected that, in any coil, the nth turn is connected to the (n + 1)th turn in the coil on one side and to the (n - 1)th turn in the coil on the other side, where n is the number of turns in the coil from and including its innermost turn. Where winding commences at the bottom, instead of at the top, the nth turn in a coil is connected to the (n - 1 )th turn in the coil above and to the (n + 1 )th turn in the coil below. Two windings one beginning at the top and the other at the bottom may be connected in parallel to form a transformer winding. The number of turns in one or more coils may be varied, insulating packing being suostituted for any turns omitted. Conventional disc coils may be used in conjunction with coils of the type described. The oil duct between the innermost turns and the cylinder on which they are wound may be omitted and separate additional interturn insulation may be inserted.
