Abstract

689,488. Transformers. MASCHINTENFABRIK OERLIKON. Jan. 30, 1951 [Feb. 15, 1950], No. 2375/51. Class 38 (ii). The layer or layers of the high voltage winding of a transformer nearest the low voltage winding 2 are divided into two or more parallel strands 3a, 3b, which cross over so that they are equally placed with respect to the leakage field. In this way the number of layers 3 may be kept small with low leakage losses, without increasing the leakage flux by having fewer turns in the windings. To reduce the effect of voltage surge, the innermost layer of all, and the outer layer may have fewer turns and be undivided, Fig. 4 (not shown), and an electrostatic screen 6 may be connected to the high voltage terminal.
