Abstract
819,038. Transformers. BROWN, BOVERI & CIE A.G. May 7, 1956 [May 7, 1955], No. 14130/56. Class 38 (2). The high-voltage winding of a transformer cornprises disc coils wherein the winding turns themselves are wound in such a manner as to effectively control the capacitive conditions so that on application of a voltage impulse the voltage distribution along the winding is linearized. Each coil comprises a part such as 19 which is single-wound and a part such as 20 which is double-wound (the effect of the double winding being that the " A.C." voltage between adjacent turns in the double-wound part is several times that in single-wound part), the number of turns in the single-wound part increasing on progression through the disc coils from the high-voltage end of the winding and the number of turns of the double-wound part decreasing correspondingly. As shown the disc coils are arranged in pairs, the pair 14, 15 having three single-wound turns and eleven double-wound turns, the next pair 16, 17 having five single-wound turns and nine double-wound turns, this progression continuing through disc coils which are not shown. Other variations in the numbers and arrangements of single and double wound turns in each disc or pair of discs are described.
