Abstract
563,452. Transformers. B R I T I S H THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. April 29, 1943, No. 6761. Convention date, May 5, 1942. [Class 38 (ii)] A winding for a transformer or other apparatus comprises a plurality of axiallydisposed disc coils such as 17, 20, alternate coils being wound on channel collars such as 23, 30 and the intermediate coils such as 20 being arranged between the collars. The winding is continuous and enters at 18 through a slot into a collar 17, within the channel of which it is wound from the inside out the outermost turn then proceeding at 19 to the outer turn of an intermediate coil 20, the inner turn of which then proceeds at 21 through a slot 28 into the next collar. The intermediate coil may first be wound from the inside out and its turns then shuffled so that they lead from the outside in. Where there are two or more such windings arranged concentrically, they may be separated by a series of insulating spacers such as shown in Fig. 5, each comprising a column 35 and a laminated portion 36 with grooves 37 to receive the rims of the collars 23, 30. A fluid passage is left between the spacers.
