Abstract
512,957. Transformers ; inductances. BRITISH THOMSON - HOUSTON CO., Ltd. March 23, 1938, No. 8921. Convention date, March 23, 1937. [Class 38 (ii)] The H.T. winding in a transformer or inductance comprises disc coils 21, Fig. 2, mounted on an insulating cylinder 14 which has longitudinal grooves 24, the coils being separated by U-shaped strips 22 the inner ends of which enter the grooves 24 and are positioned thereby. A second insulating tube 15 is mounted within the tube 14 and spaced therefrom by strips 16, the ends of the tubes being flanged as shown to give insulation from the core 19. Alternative coils 21 are provided with channels 25 to allow oil to circulate. In a modification alternate coils may be of larger internal diameter as shown in Fig. 5 to provide oil ducts 25.
