Abstract

573,679. Choke coils. AKT.-GES. BROWN, BOVERI, & CIE. Dec. 21, 1943, No. 21420. Convention date, Dec. 23, 1942. [Class 38 (ii)] A continuously adjustable choke coil comprises a cylindrical radially laminated core 1, the end of which is surrounded by a radially laminated yoke 2, a radially laminated magnetic return path 3 extending upwards beyond the core 1, together with a relatively movable winding 4 of disc coils enclosed by hard paper tubes 9. To reduce eddy currents, the winding may be divided into two concentric part windings, Fig. 4, mutually spaced to provide a cooling channel. Insulation of the winding from the core and return path is effected by forming a flange of solid material at the ends of the winding. The container 10 may be filled with oil.
