Abstract

541,485. Transformers. AKT.-GES. BROWN, BOVERI, & CIE. May 8, 1940, No. 8314. Convention date, May 15, 1939. [Class 38 (ii)] In a transformer in which the high tension winding 2 and low tension winding 3 are separated by an insulating cylinder 1, the latter extends beyond the winding ends, and the electrostatic field adjacent the winding ends is favourably distributed by metallic elements 5, 6 on the inside and outside of the cylinder. The spaces between the metallic elements and the cylinder are filled by paper rings 7, 8. Additional solid insulation 11 may be provided between the rings 7, 8 and the core yoke 4. The metallic elements 5, 6 may be in the form of coatings or metal rings, or they may be formed by the windings or core of the transformer itself. Specification 250,261, [Class 38 (ii)], is referred to.
