Abstract
741,451. Transformers. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. July 27, 1953 [July 25, 1952], No. 20778/53. Class 38 (2). In order to improve the ventilating characteristic of a transformer the high voltage winding 19 is arranged as a number of single layer disc coils each of which is divided into two radially spaced concentric annular sections 20, 21, spacer members being positioned between the sections to define cooling channels 22, 23. The sections 20, 21 are formed from radiallywound strip, the interconnection between sections of the same coil and between sections of adjacent coils being made by means of crossovers 26, 27 respectively. Alternatively all the inner sections 20 may be connected in series and then connected in parallel with all the outer sections 21 connected in series or, to ensure even current distribution, the inner and outer sections may be connected in two groups which are crossconnected with each other.
