1513411 Transformers and inductors TRANSFORMATOREN UNION AG 19 June 1975 [19 June 1974] 26170/75 Heading H1T In a winding for a choke or transformer comprising m (as shown 8) parallel conductors arranged as radially superposed turns of disc layers, the disc layers being arranged in axially separated sections (as shown four sections I, II, III, IV), with the radial position of any conductor remaining the same in all the disc layers of a section and the radial position of each conductor being changed at cross over zones 12 between sections, m is given by 2 x<2>+x/2 . alpha<x+1> where alpha and x are integers, the m conductors being divided into l groups each of R conductors where l = 2 x<2>-x/2 . a<x> and R = 2<x> À@ and the number of conductors per group R is equal to the number of sections. Thus, as shown the 8 conductors are divided into 2 groups of four conductors and there are four sections I, II, III, IV. One group comprises 1' 4' 6' and 7' (single superscript ') the other 2", 3", 5" and 8" (double superscript "). The innermost position is occupied by only conductors from the first group 1' 4' 6' and 7', and each radial position belongs to one or other of the two groups in this way. The cross over zones serve as radial cooling channels. The speech mentions an arrangement of 64 conductors in 8 groups of 8 (i.e. a=2 x = 2).
