Abstract

199,814. Easson, L. H. U. March 29, 1922. Hoods and opening tops.-In an open-to-closed motor car &c., rigid lateral members a, Fig. 1, are pivoted to fold down into the body of the vehicle and are connected by a curved top member b provided with an extension f adapted to 'be unrolled and secured to the wind screen e. The hood may be manipulated by cords, wires, &c. passing about guides and operated by chain-andsprocket gear disposed within the body. In a modification, the rigid lateral members j<1>, Fig. 4, slide down into the body and the top comprises a sheet g of flexible material mounted on a spring- actuated roller housed in the rear of the body and supported when unwound therefrom by collapsable pillars i provided with longitudinal members l grooved to receive the edges of the top.
