Abstract

341,858. Road vehicle opening tops. PAGE, C. E. and PAGE, E. G., Claremont, Staines Road, East Bedfont, Middlesex. Aug. 21, 1929, No. 25480. [Class 108 (i).] In road vehicles of the kind provided with closable apertures in the roof the closure comprises a number of thin panels, frames or the like slidably arranged in continuous longitudinal grooves on the inside of the cantrails, the panels &c. being free to slide in either direction and a flexible covering superimposed above the panels &c. which covering is carried by a spring-controlled roller and secured at its front edge to the front of the foremost panel. As shown in Figs. 1 and 3 a number of movable panels 6 are arranged to slide in grooves 5 on the cantrails 1 and are adapted to be retracted below a fixed panel 7. The panels 6 are provided with front hoop-sticks 8 interconnected by cords 9. A cover 10 is secured to the hoop-stick 8 of the front panel 6 and is adapted to be wound up on or withdrawn from a spring biassed roller 11 passing over a free roller 14. The panels may be replaced by open frames 17, Figs. 4 and 5, having parts 8x, 18 adapted to engage the grooves and provided with hooks 19 in place of the cords 9.
