Abstract

414,845. Vehicle roofs; emergency exits. NICHOLS, C. H., 122, Beeches Road, West Bromwich. April 27, 1933, No. 12258. [Class 108 (i).] An emergency exit panel as described in Specification 339,473, [Class 108 (i)], . is embodied in, or itself forms, a sliding panel to act as a closure for the roof opening. As shown a detachable panel 4 is secured to a sliding panel frame 3 by tumbler catches 6, 7 as described in the former Specification the sliding panel frame being of any known kind while the marginal edges 5 of the detachable panel overlap the frame 3. Slots 8, 9 are formed in a fixed part of the roof in which slots the tumbler catches engage when the sliding panel is withdrawn into or on the fixed part of the roof. According to the Provisional Specification, the detachable panel provided with tumbler catches is adapted to be disengaged and raised by a system of rods and links, the panel being then slid into the fixed part of the roof.
