Abstract

478,428. Vehicle opening-tops. MOBBS, R. O. June 15, 1936, No. 16609. [Class 108 (i)] In a vehicle roof' having a slidable panel closing an aperture therein the fixed roof is formed with two flanged longitudinal rain gutters extending nearly the whole length of the roof and having a curvature corresponding to that of the roof except towards one or both ends which has less curvature so that the end or ends of the gutters more or less gradually fade out to nothing. As shown the longitudinal gutters 12 formed in the fixed part 34 of the roof fade out at 14 while they are joined at the front by a transverse gutter 12a the ends of which fade out at 16 so that no vertical rain tubes are required. The gutters are provided with flanges which serve as guides for the sliding panel 18 and as shown in Fig. 3, these guides 20 are outwardly extending and provided with felt &c. whereas in Fig. 4, the guides 24 extend inwardly. The front and rear edges of the panel may curve downwardly towards the gutters 12a, 12b.
