Abstract

426,944. Ventilating vehicles. SMITH, J., 240, Orrell Road, Orrell, Wigan. Aug. 23, 1934, No. 23455/33. [Class 137] In a vehicle roof of hollow construction divided into a number of separate longitudinal compartments 3 communicating with the outside air at the ends of the roof, some of the compartments are provided with apertures 11, Fig. 1, in the base of the cavity roof having rearwardly directed mouths, and the remainder of the compartments with apertures 13, Fig. 2, having forwardly directed mouths. The invention may be applied to sunshine roofs, the apertures being provided in sliding panels in the base part of the cavity roof, each compartment being provided with separate panels 1<b>, 1<c> in the fore part of the vehicle which slide over and under a fixed panel 1<a> in the rear of the vehicle respectively. The cavity roof is covered by a front sliding panel 2d and a fixed rear panel 2<c>, and has a permanent rear opening 3<a> and an adjustable air admission opening 8<a>. Compartments shown in Fig. 2 are preferably arranged between compartments of the type shown in Fig. 1, the apertures of the latter being provided with interiorly operated sliding ventilator plates 14.
